DS-160 form assistance for US visitor visa applicants
Accurate applicant-led form preparation

DS-160 Form Assistance

Careful preparation and review of the online nonimmigrant visa application using the applicant’s own complete and truthful information.

Why the DS-160 deserves careful preparation

The DS-160 is submitted electronically to the US Department of State and is used by consular officers together with the interview to assess a nonimmigrant visa application. Errors can affect the scheduling profile, create inconsistencies or require a new form.

We organise the information before entry, explain questions in practical terms and review the form with the applicant. We do not invent answers or submit information the applicant has not confirmed.

Information normally covered

Personal and passport details

Names, date and place of birth, nationality, national identification where applicable, passport number, issue and expiry details.

Travel information

Purpose, intended dates, duration, destinations, accommodation, companions and who will pay for the trip.

US contact information

Accurate person or organisation details, address, phone and the applicant’s real relationship with that contact.

Family information

Parents, spouse and relatives in the United States where the form asks for them.

Employment and education

Current and previous work, duties, income, employer or business details, and education history.

Travel and visa history

Previous US travel, international travel, earlier applications, refusals and any overstays or immigration issues.

Security and background questions

These questions cover health, criminal, immigration, security and other matters. They must be answered personally and truthfully. A consultant should not advise an applicant to hide an arrest, refusal, overstay, petition, relative or other material fact.

If a question involves a legal, criminal or immigration history issue, obtain qualified legal advice where appropriate. Form-filling assistance is not a substitute for legal representation.

Photo and confirmation page

The online form includes a photo upload step subject to official photograph requirements. If the upload does not meet the system requirements, the applicant should follow the current instructions about bringing a printed photograph.

After submission, keep the DS-160 barcode confirmation page. The Department of State says the full application does not need to be printed for the interview, but applicants should retain their own accurate record of the answers for preparation.

Common DS-160 errors

  • Names or passport numbers entered differently from the passport.
  • Wrong visa category or incorrect application location.
  • Approximate employment dates that create unexplained gaps.
  • Incorrect US contact or address entered simply to complete the field.
  • Omitting previous refusals, travel or relatives.
  • Using answers prepared by someone else without reading and confirming them.
  • Changing the travel story at the interview because the submitted form was not reviewed.

Prepare an information record before entering answers

The form session is not the best place to reconstruct years of personal history from memory. Before starting, collect the current passport, previous US visa details, approximate travel plan, US contact, family information, employment or business history, education details and previous international travel records that may be requested.

A salaried applicant should confirm employer names, addresses, joining dates and duties. A business owner should be able to describe the business consistently rather than copying a designation from a visiting card. Retired applicants should record earlier employment accurately. Students and dependants should identify their current activity and genuine funding arrangement.

Travel purpose, US contact and funding must connect

These sections are often completed separately, but the answers describe one trip. A family visit should identify the real relative and relationship. A business visit should identify the host organisation and permitted activity. A self-funded applicant should not later present the trip as fully sponsored unless the circumstances genuinely changed.

Corrections after submission require careful handling

A submitted DS-160 cannot simply be edited like a draft. Depending on the stage and official instructions, an applicant may need to prepare a corrected application and ensure that the appropriate confirmation number is associated with the appointment record. Do not create multiple forms casually or assume that a correction has automatically reached the scheduling system.

Minor differences and material errors are not the same. A typographical error in an address requires a different assessment from an incorrect passport number, undisclosed refusal, wrong category or false employment history. If the issue is material, correct it through the applicable official process and retain both the accurate record and confirmation page.

The applicant remains responsible for every answer

Assistance does not transfer responsibility from the applicant. Before electronic submission, the applicant should read the form, confirm spellings and dates, understand the travel explanation and answer the final declarations personally. Never sign a form containing information that has not been reviewed simply because a consultant prepared it.

For privacy, share only information necessary for the agreed review. Never send scheduling passwords, payment-card details or one-time codes through an ordinary enquiry form.

Our DS-160 assistance process

  1. Collect the relevant details through a structured information review.
  2. Clarify unclear dates, employment history, contacts and travel plans.
  3. Prepare the form using applicant-confirmed answers.
  4. Review spelling, dates and cross-section consistency.
  5. Have the applicant confirm the information before electronic submission.
  6. Retain the barcode confirmation page and prepare for the next official steps.

Frequently asked questions

Can someone else complete my DS-160?

A third party may assist, but the applicant remains responsible for the accuracy and must electronically sign the form. Every answer should come from the applicant’s truthful information.

Can a submitted DS-160 be edited?

A submitted form is not edited in the same way as a saved draft. Depending on the situation, a new DS-160 may be required and the appointment profile may need the correct confirmation number.

Do I print the full DS-160?

The Department of State instructs applicants to print and keep the barcode confirmation page; the full application does not normally need to be printed for the interview.

Why does consistency matter?

Consular officers use the DS-160 together with the interview. Material differences between the submitted form and spoken answers can create confusion or credibility concerns.
